Lucas Price, formerly know as Cyclops, originates from the hotbed of talent that was the Bristol street art scene in the 1980’s from which, amongst others, Banksy came.

He is a long-time painting partner of other influential artists like Sweet Toof and Rowdy and a founding member of Before Chrome.

Nowadays he creates photorealistic paintings that examine the connections between objects and language. His work combines images and typography to investigate how language and visuals act as an essential means of conversation. Drawing on still life traditions, Price highlights mundane objects such as buttons and fire extinguishers, revitalizing these static objects with stimulating text to jolt viewers into actively engaging with them. Multilayered works such as For Ferguson, With Love (2015) challenge our understanding of common objects and how words affect their meaning. Originally a self-taught artist who participated in the street art scene as part of the Burning Candy graffiti crew, Price earned a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art London in 2013.

His works of art are now also offered in the secondary market, where his work is well received and with good results at auctions at renowned auction houses such as Bonhams and Phillips.
